A few weeks ago I was kindly given tickets to the ideal home show that a friend had rejected. Why he didn't want them was beyond me but I didn't ask questions and happily accepted. On the day of the show when I bounced into the office early so I could maximise my time at Earls Court that evening I was told by one person that he could think of nothing he would like to to less than go to the ideal home show again and another that they'd wanted to leave before they'd even properly arrived. Heathens I thought- they clearly don't appreciate lovely interior design when they see it!
Some hours later it all became crystal clear when I found Mum sitting in a faux grass covered corner of the lobby of Earls Court amongst hundreds, literally hundreds of people clutching mops and those folding-box-wheelie-storage situations. Inside it didn't get much better; strangely there was a mix of so-expensive-you-can't-afford-anything and some dodgy market. Determined to find some lovely ideas for the house we wandered around the two floors dodging and weaving men demonstrating the next chopping solution and women eagerly demanding that we try some hideous bronzer they were clutching. After an hour or so of aimless wandering we decided that enough was enough and ventured out in to the rain to head for something to eat in Sloane Square, which I might add, turned out to be lovely.

A bit of a disappointment after I'd been so hyped up about it. Alas, next year we'll try the Country Living Fair which I've heard is a world of chintz and britishness.
Country Living has much niffty, home making scenarios that I feel will better suit the inner exploratory home owner in you!
