On a sleepy street in suburbia is my local Upholstery Shop. It is groaning with the thickest most tactile material that I have ever come across. On my first visit I left with a large leather offcut for a fiver (amongst other things) leaving John Lewis's fabric department, once a safe haven, paling into insignificance. Since then I've bought grey suede to upholster a chair, jewel coloured velvets, retro prints and floral remnants. I am in heaven.
Worryingly, it's getting to the point where I'm jealous of the ladies that lunch that get to go there during the week when I have to wait until the weekend to get my fix. Only three days to go now...breeeeath.
