Projects for the Weekend

For ages now I've been searching for a blog or website that can inspire me and point me in the direction of some new crafty ideas. The Times' list of top 50 design blogs has done exactly that and now I have a whole heap exciting projects on my never ending list.

Having spent a LONG time ruthlessly judging each blog for myself the Design Sponge was without doubt my winner (The Times only put it in the No. 2 spot). You can imagine my delight when I found it's whole huge section devoted to DIY projects of all shapes and sizes! After a lengthy process of elimination I selected a couple of my faves...

Kristen's Ruffly Felt Wreath

I'm desperate to get my hands on some felt so I can start making one of these luscious wreaths. I've been thinking about putting up a heart on the wall in my bedroom for a while but I haven't found the right one. Depending on what foam shapes I can find I think I'll make my heart, and maybe even use a few different felts to add even more texture if that's possible. I'll be sure to post a picture of the finished article.

Maya's Twinkle Board

I.can't.wait.to.make.this. What an amazingly simple idea! There's a skanky second hand furniture store around the corner from my house which I'm sure will have a piece of wood for me. So so simple!

I was planning on tackling the unloved borders in our garden this weekend but something tells me it's going to be a craft frenzy instead.
